Who are you listening to?

1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”

Who are you allowing to speak into your life? Who are you going to for advice and council? It’s important that you choose wisely as these people will help shape your future!

Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

It’s important that the people who speak into your life be God focused people, who value God’s Word and will advise you according to God’s wisdom. The people you surround yourself with will affect the way you think and what you believe. Don’t be fooled into thinking that you can continually listen to unbelief and worldly thought without it influencing the way you approach God.

World focused Christians and unbelievers will advise you according to the latest philosophy of the world and according to the world’s shifting morals. This advice will not be able to bring you into the freedom that Jesus bought for you on the cross.

Colossians 2:8
Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

James 3:13-18
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

When you seek Godly council, it helps greatly if you are committed to the things of God yourself. You must place your trust in God and His Word and look to it for your instruction and guidance.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Let’s make sure we are getting our advice from the right people. Doing so will prevent many problems in our lives!

Psalm 37:30-31
The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, And his tongue talks of justice. The law of his God is in his heart; None of his steps shall slide.
